Hopefully no one abuses this and Blizzard fixes it soon! Luckily this is a pretty narrow set of circumstances, as not only do you only get to use mercenary mode when there's long queues for the opposing faction, but newcomers are only marked as such until they get to level 20, but it will still be problematic for newer players as they might be targeted. While this poses quite the moral dilemma for players like Zezlo, there are definitely some out there who would purposefully abuse the system. This is a pretty solid advantage in PvP, as you can immediately tell which players are new and inexperienced, making them easy targets. With mercenary mode you're able to flag yourself so you can PvP as the opposing faction, but it seems the game still views you as a member of your actual faction, which lets you see new players if you've opted in to the mentor program. Some bad news for newer players who enjoy or just want to try out PvP, as Zezlo noticed a hopefully unintended interaction between mercenary mode and the newcomer/mentor system.
